I am a Visiting teacher at Barnardos, working with a rōpu of wonderful homebased educators across South and East Auckland. I provide mentoring and support to our educators, that help with children's learning and development. I also run a playgroup weekly during term time as a way for our tamariki to come together in a larger group setting to extend on their learning capabilities. I have been working in home based for just over two years and before that worked in Kindergarten.

I love working in the Early Childhood sector and being a part of growing and supporting our mokopuna/tamariki through their early childhood journey. I believe our tamariki need to be in an early childhood setting that reflects their cultural heritage and the community they live and play. Cultural identity and language is important for our mokopuna and believe it is our obligation and responsibility as Kaiako to ensure we are culturally responsive to our mokopuna and whānau needs.

I love seeing mokopuna flourish in a rich environment where they have the time, space and resources to feed their curiosity, to explore, engage and inquire at their own pace.

I am excited to be part of the process that we are about to embark on with Te Whāriki, He Whāriki matāuranga mō ngā mokopuna o Aotearoa 2017 and look forward to exploring more in-depth into our curriculum for implementation.

I am currently working for Core Education as a Curriculum Champion for two days a week (Ko te Rāpare ā ko te Rāmere) Thursday and Friday's.

As Kaiako we are all in this together to learn alongside one another and provide a unique and quality curriculum for our tamariki, whānau and community.

When I am not a kaiako, I am a mum of two beautiful tamariki Jaden and Maia, and wife to my amazingly supportive husband Wes (Ko Waikato-Tainui, Ko Taranaki ia) who is working his way to becoming an AES officer.

When I am not on the sideline of my children's sporting events and other extra curricular activities, I keep busy, training for and taking part in running, cycling and long distance triathlon events.
