Lane Clark: Navigating a VUCA World - Volatile, Uncertain, Complex and Ambiguous
    25 September
Public discussion Created by CORE Education

Many of us have been lucky enough to have crossed paths with Lane Clark over the years - where Lane has helped to many NZ teachers think more critically about learning design that best meets the needs of the 21st C students in a global society.

How schools and society can help individuals acquire the competencies to navigate a VUCA world, is at the forefront of world-wide debate. Leading the way is an OECD project, ‘Future of Education and Skills: Education 2030’. At uLearn18, Lane will explore and discuss how the Key Competencies are position to drive profound curriculum change where students will need a special set of global skills or competencies to navigate a VUCA (volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous) world.

OECD’s Director for Education and Skills Andreas Schleicher also talks about; 'a focus on these key 21st Century skills are responsive to ongoing social and economic changes in the world - not just skills for the job market, but transferable skills' (What should we be assessing in education). So what would a set of global skills or competencies look like for your students? Or, turn it around - what would a school leaver, ill equipped for the world look like?
