Do you feel you could be catering more effectively for the different cultures in your classroom? Not sure where to start? Come and learn from those who have taught in bicultural and/or culturally diverse settings what will work for you as well. This action-packed workshop will give you lots of ideas and strategies for ensuring you connect with, support and fully engage the learners and whānau from all cultures in your setting. A particular focus will be on Māori and Pasifika learners but ideas and resources will be applicable to many different contexts.

Learning outcomes

  • evaluate current practices and pedagogy and learn about more culturally responsive practices.
  • learn practical ways in which your school might effectively reflect the bicultural heritage of Aotearoa
  • learn about ways to meaningfully engage with and create partnerships with students, whānau and the wider community.
