Ten Trends Showcase uLearn19
Updated by Tessa Gray

Last night, uLearn19 kicked off the with Ten Trends Showcase and a UN Mission Possible challenge.

Derek Wenmoth opened the session with a brief overview of the CORE Ten Trends (patterns, general course and direction, change over time) and how these effect our everyday lives as well as education.

This was followed by an interactive challenge, where each table became a mini United Nation council, tasked with using the Ten Trends19 cards to solve immediate and imminent global issues (Sustainable Development Goals). Solutions were loaded into Seesaw and XP (experience points) were rewarded for contributions and feedback. This task was designed to exemplify Micro-credentialling and Real-time reporting in action. Congratulations to rōpū whetu, who won themselves a pack of Ten Trends cards each.

Katrina Laurie took us on a personal journey and shared how Ormiston Junior College have implemented Micro-credentalling and open badging in their school enabling learners to become fully engaged in their learning pathways. You might like to check out the full Ormiston Junior College's story at uLearn19. Derek Wenmoth ended by summarising key understandings and implications of the CORE Ten Trends19 for education in Aotearoa.
