Megan Martin

About me

Kia ora. My name is Megan Martin and I am a PE/Health teacher at Marian College and an Across Schools Teacher for the Christchurch Catholic Kāhui Ako (Te Mara Akoranga Katorika). I’m closer to 50 than 40 and like anyone who has made it this far, I’ve had my share of life-changing experiences and significant events, such as the Christchurch earthquakes. These have shaped and changed the course of my life and that of my community. It breaks my heart in my job as a teacher to witness first hand the struggles our community and society have in regards to mental health. So I focused on what I could do to help and I created which is a health and wellbeing website with resources and strategies for people to take control of their health and wellbeing one little step at a time. This website has gone through a transformation with the COVID-19 pandemic and is being used as a platform for the 'Live Up' COVID Community. This was set up to support our communities with practical wellbeing resources that can be used for these extraordinary circumstances of social distancing, community lockdown and quarantine. This resource has been made from contributions from many people who have shared ideas, resources and strategies.
