About me

Kia ora

I work for CORE Education as a member of the Te Ara Reo Māori team and am working across a number of projects, including; Learning with Digital Technologies, Māori-medium publishing and Te Ohu Rangahau.

My career has been dedicated to improving education success for all children and supporting school’s to build strong relationships with whānau, hapū and iwi. I have gained experiences in mainstream, whānau/Māori medium, museum and alternative education.

Prior to working at CORE, I worked alongside leaders, teachers and whānau to improve the achievement and engagement of Māori students at New Plymouth Boys’ High School. I iniitiated a mentoring program which included in-class support, pastoral care, e-Learning, engaging with whānau and introducing boys to waka ama.

I live on my papakāinga at Puniho Pā with my whānau in Taranaki. We are committed to sustainable living, language revitalisation and supporting the marae community. Our children receive their education at Puniho and regularly engage with the environment and wider community.

Committing to the preservation of the environment, language and cultural identity are integral in achieving the wellbeing of our communities. Education plays a significant role in supporting these aspirations. I’m committed to improving the delivery of quality education in all learning contexts and designing innovative programmes alongside our schools, whānau, hapū and iwi.
