Born in paradise (Whakatu, Nelson),  I furthered my ‘schooling’ (university, teachers’ college, teaching, principalship) for the next 40 years in Christchurch from 1971 until 2011. I taught mainly Years 7 & 8 students in full primaries and intermediates, was a Museum Education Officer and a seconded teachers’ college lecturer. I ‘retired’ from principalship after 21 years  in 2011. Since returning to live in paradise where I can enjoy boating and fishing around Abel Tasman National Park, Tasman and Golden Bays, and the Marlborough Sounds, I have been kept busy as a leadership coach, contract leadership appraisal and appointment advisory work, online course facilitator, and MOE accredited facilitator and expert partner working with Kāhui Ako. My involvement as a kaiarahi in the National Aspiring Principals Programme (2100 -2016)  stimulated a strong professional interest in and passion for coaching, mentoring and team facilitation. I regard it as a privilege to engage with school leaders coaching/mentoring relationships to facilitate growth and change in thinking and practice to improve outcomes for akonga (students and teachers) and communities.

Brief description: Lead Facilitator & Expert Partner, CORE Education. Naku te rourou nau te rourou ka ora ai te iwi “With your basket and my basket the people will live” . The diversity of competing demands and views, the increasing complexities of the educational and schooling environments in the twenty-first Century, urges us to collaborate, to develop rich networks and communities of best practice. I regard myself as privileged to be able to continue to contribute to such communities through my association with CORE Education.
