About me

Kia Ora,

I consider myself to be extremely fortunate in my Early Childhood teaching career.

I have taught in centres that are Community-based, private, and those attached to larger organisations, centres with ethnically diverse communities, and centres within a range of socio-economic settings. I started teaching in Christchurch 26 years ago and in my second position was so fortunate to be at the Lincoln University Early Childhood centre. In Wellington, after the birth of my son, I was one of the inaugural teachers at Daisies, Dr Anne Meade's centre. Dr Meade has provided a lot of the wisdom for my practice.
When my husband's work brought me to Auckland I was lucky to be employed by The Learning Centre Ltd, a RIE and Pikler inspired centre. This centre is currently working on becoming the first RIE accredited centre outside the US, they also practice continuity of care, where the Key Teachers transition with their cohort of children.

Throughout the years, I have taught with amazing teachers who have guided my practice and given me the gift of their knowledge and understandings.

I am so very excited to be starting this new chapter of my professional life, that allows us to reapproach our amazing early childhood curriculum, Te Whāriki with fresh eyes and to get excited about it all over again. In New Zealand, we have been blessed to have the gift of this amazing curriculum, I consider it to be an honour to be doing this work.

My husband, son and I live in Titirangi, West Auckland, and in my spare time I like to paint in textured acrylics, sketch, illustrate, take photographs and enjoy the stunning environments of the Manakau and Waitemata Harbours.

I have an absolute passion for learning in all it's guises, and I am looking forward to collaboratively learning together.

Naku te rourou nau te rourou ka ora ai te iwi
